Oklahoma Gravel

Generally, gravel in Oklahoma is a limestone and dolomite mixture. Most limestone is mined out of the Arbuckle mountains and shipped by train or truck through out Oklahoma.

Even though limestone is the dominate stone in this area, Metro Materials has suppliers for both Rhyolite & Decomposed Granite. Rhyolite is a darker grey to black color, and decomposed granite is golden. Both of these gravels can be seen on our STONE & GRAVEL Product Page. The most common gravel sold in Oklahoma is Crusher Run Gravel. This is Limestone Stones, generally 1 1/2′ in diameter mixed in with a matrix of fines. The fines are a vital ingredient for compaction. This gravel is recommended for most applications, including driveways, rural roads, and road base. If your driveway is established and just in need of some more stone, use our Clean #57 Gravel or screenings.
